About The Seminar

Using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to Help People Overcome Irrational Drinking / Drugging

Substance abuse treatment is in high demand today as people of all ages are discovering a plethora of ways to abuse themselves with substances.  However, often, the client actually does not have a substance abuse problem.  Their actual problem is their motivation to use the substances irrationally.  Many mental health professionals learn to suggest to their clients that they have a "substance use disorder" and that their use of substances is necessarily problematic.  Meanwhile, the client believes he or she does not have a problem.  Why?  Because they have no goals that their drinking / drugging interferes with.

This important seminar will teach the mental health professional how to help their clients to rid themselves of their motivation to use alcohol / drugs.  Attendees will learn how to engage their clients with what they really want, and how to use that motivation to help the client change and maintain their change (read get bettter).   Attendees will learn how to help their clients correct cognitions that lead to substance-abusing behavior and how to help their clients maintain that change.  Powerful behavioral technqiues will be presented to create and maintain behavioral and cognitive change.
